C.L. Disc Golf Course

A project that began as a dream in 2021 is coming to life. The church raised money from its members to fund the creation of a small 6-hole disc golf course on the property to the southeast of the main facilities.

This project is a joint effort between the Covenant Life “Field of Dreams” and Youth ministries. The disc golf course will be built over several phases and plans are to break ground for this in the fall of ‘22 and have it fully completed by late spring of ‘23 .

If you would like to join in the project, contact Pastor Andrew or Meshawn, as we would love to have as much help as we can get to build this new course on our property to bring in new members of our community.

COURSE LAYOUT

Covenant Life Disc Golf Course

In a joint effort between two of the Covenant Life Worship Center ministry programs, the Field of Dreams property maintenance and beautification ministry, and the Covenant Life Youth Ministry, the Covenant Life Disc Golf Course aims to bring the local community a place to enjoy the wonderful sport of Disc Golf.

The course layout initially has plans for 6 holes to start. These 6 holes will be laid out around the exterior of the property, with the potential for future expansion to 9 holes and even 18 if called for. The initial 6 holes will offer the community a glimpse at what “could be” in store as the church itself grows and incorporates more and more assets for the local community to utilize.

HOLE 1

Launching from the south corner of the parking lot, the course will begin with the most difficult hole. Golfers will have to work through a handful of obstacles, fireplace remains from a home long gone, multiple trees, and a close proximity tree line on the right side of the fairway that is prepared to snatch any disc that comes its way.

Hole one will be a 330 foot par 3 that is sure to claim a disc or two as it welcomes golfers to the course.

HOLE 2

Hole two will prove to be one of the trickiest holes on the course, as golfers navigate across 300 foot of open fairway to find a 25 foot narrow path gatekeeping the second basket.

Once they navigate through that path, the second basket lies beyond a short dogleg left on the other side of the “swampy circle”

Hole two will be a 470 foot par 4, that like most of the holes on this course, threatens to eat discs that get lost to the treeling on the right side. But it also offers the “swampy circle” as an obstacle on the left as golfers make their approach to the second basket.

HOLE 3

Hole three finally eases up on the golfer who may have had a couple discs already claimed by the many obstacles assorted across the first two holes.

This hole runs parallel to the treeline at the back of the property with the only obstacle being the treeline itself which extends the entirety of this hole.

Hole three will be a 440 foot par 4, which gives the golfer an opportunity for a birdy after a tricky first two holes that most likely added a few strokes to the game early on.

HOLE 4

Starting immediately following the hole 3 basket, golfers have an easy dogleg left at hole 4. Which can provide another opportunity to get a stroke back with a potential birdy.

However, there is something different about this hole that is sure to make it the most famous one at the CLWC Disc Golf course. Hole 4 will forever be known as the “Plane Crash” as the basket at the end of hole 4 rests in the fuselage of a crashed airplane.

Hole four will be another 440 foot par 4, following the same open layout as the previous hole. The only obstacles that threaten on hole 4 are the treeline to the right at the beginning and the “plane crash forest” on the left near the basket

HOLE 5

Immediately following the plane crash basket, the fifth hole on the course will prove to be a tricky hole for right-handed throwers.

This hole is a blind dog leg right that ends between two overgrown, disc-eating outgrowths that will claim any disc that isn’t thrown with the utmost accuracy.

This hole is one of the longest on the course at 475 feet. Couple that with the blind dog leg around the plane crash forest as well as the twin disc-eating overgrowths surrounding the basket, and this will make for one of the trickest holes on the course.

HOLE 6

To end the first phase of the Covenant Life Disc Golf Course, hole 6 begins at the exit of the disc eating overgrowths that surround the basket of hole 5.

This hole provides another opportunity for golfers to win back a stroke to try and end out their golfing session at par again. With little to no obstacles, hole six brings golfers near the launch pad of hole 2 for an easy exit back up to the parking log.

Hole six is a 320 foot dogleg right with nothing but clear empty field as you throw from the launch pad. The only obstacle on this hole is another disc-hungry overgrowth tucked closely behind the basket.
